The Ciano Cancer Center of Gulf Breeze Hospital

The Ciano Cancer Center is the sole provider of radiation therapy services in Gulf Breeze proper. The Center offers the latest technology for cancer treatment in a setting designed to promote comfort and healing.

With support and collaboration from Baptist Hospital’s Kugelman Cancer Center, a team of skilled cancer care experts work together to develop the best course of treatment for each patient.

Treatments include intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and 3-D conformal (conventional) therapy.

PROGRESS = MORE SURVIVORS

On July 23, 2010, Belinda Godwin of Gulf Breeze was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer called pure tubular carcinoma. She turned to the team of skilled oncology experts at the Ciano Cancer Center for the best care on the Gulf Coast, and now she is a survivor.

“I had no idea what the ultimate result would be, but the staff tried to make me as comfortable as possible,” said Godwin, who with her family owns God Win’s Hair Designs in Gulf Breeze. “I was going through such a hard time in my life. My doctors and nurses made the experience so much easier for me. Everyone at the Ciano Cancer Center treated me like family, and that was important to me.”

Katherine Dubuisson is a radiation therapist who works at the center and understands what it takes to provide quality, compassionate cancer care. She and her Baptist Cancer Institute colleagues define progress as “More survivors.”

As part of Baptist Health Care’s multidisciplinary, comprehensive cancer institute, the Ciano Cancer Center excels in providing optimum cancer care by focusing on education, support and rehabilitative programs that meet patient needs before, during and after treatment. The center offers advanced medical oncology, radiation oncology and infusion services in a setting designed to promote comfort and healing. Ciano Cancer Center is the sole provider of complete cancer services in south Santa Rosa County.

Since the center’s opening in 2004, thousands of patients have received cancer care at the center. However it’s not just the patients who gain from the experience.

“I always tell my patients that I gain just as much from them as they do from me,” said Dubuisson, who has worked at the center for six years. “I get the pleasure of getting to know great people, all while helping them through a very difficult period in their lives.”

The Ciano Cancer Center focuses on progress so that more people can fight and beat cancer.

“I am sure that God put me right where I needed to be and that was at the Ciano Cancer Center,” Godwin said. “I feel so blessed to have received such great love and care. I am thankful for each and every day.”
